Why can't I issue a refund?

Two main reasons why refunds cannot be completed

Usually refunds on RPC are easy and straightforward! If you're running into trouble issuing a refund, we're here to help.

To ensure a smooth refund process, it's important to first verify the payment status in your Rock Paper Coin account. This can help identify if the payment is still pending or has been fully processed.

Before attempting a refund, you should check the payment status to confirm whether it is eligible for a refund. This involves navigating to the Wallet page in your Rock Paper Coin account and reviewing the payment details.

Two reasons why refunds cannot be completed

  1. The payment hasn't fully processed yet: In order to issue a refund, the original payment has to be fully processed. If the payment still shows as "pending", you will need to wait until the status updates to "paid". Unfortunately, we cannot intercept pending payments or issue reversals.

  2. More than 170 days has passed on an ACH payment: Credit card payments may be refunded at any time but ACH payments can only be refunded within 170 days of the original payment. If a refund is generated outside of this window, you will receive an email from our team with alternative options (check, cash, refund outside of RPC)

To verify if a payment has fully processed:

  1. Navigate to the Wallet page in your Rock Paper Coin account.

  2. Open your pay-to account and review the list of payments.

    • Pending payments are indicated by specific visual markers (e.g., italics).

    • Processed payments are displayed with different visual markers (e.g., regular font).

  3. For additional confirmation, click the bank icon on the left to view a dropdown list of payouts that have been paid and processed.

Note: While the payment may appear to have processed, the underlying bank transfer still needs to be completed on Stripe’s side before a refund can be issued. We do not have control over when banks make those funds fully available for reversal.

Once the payment is confirmed as processed, the Refund button will appear on the related invoice, allowing you to proceed with the refund.
