Written by Kelly Beeby

In order to send invoices and receive payments on RPC, you'll need to connect your bank account. Below are step by step instructions for adding a Canadian bank account.

Entering your Canadian bank information for Stripe payouts

  1. Head to your My Wallet page

  2. Click "Add Account"

  3. Enter the full, legal name associated with the bank account

  4. Select "Sole Proprietorship" or "Business, Government, or Non-profit"

  5. Canadian banks use a 3-digit institution number combined with a 5-digit transit number to make up what we call a routing number
Note: The number is usually 8 digits but if you're asked for 9 digits, add a 0 in front to satisfy the requirements.

  6. Enter your account number

  7. Click "Save"

  8. Check back shortly to review your Stripe status. If additional information is needed, you will receive an email notification

What is my Routing Number?

For Canadian bank accounts, your routing number is typically made up of:

  • Your 3-digit Institution Number (bank number)

  • Your 5-digit Transit Number (branch number)

These numbers can usually be found on a void cheque, direct deposit form, or through your online banking portal.

Example
If your:

  • Institution Number is 001

  • Transit Number is 12345

Your routing number may appear as:
00112345 or 012345001, depending on your bank and payment processor's formatting requirements.

If you're unsure which format to use, please contact our support team and we'll be happy to help.

Where can I find these numbers?

Most Canadian banks provide a direct deposit form that includes:

  • Account Number

  • Transit Number

  • Institution Number

You can typically download this form from your online banking account or request it directly from your bank.
